ORLHNS - day1...
- day 1 of the ORL bit of the Spec Surg run...
- scrubed in for the coolest surg this yr...
- (R) hemiglossectomy - with flap and graft....
- due to the HNS bit - ORL surg juz topped my list of "hmmm...maybe?"...
- there was more actual surgery than i expected! - not juz all tht nonsense microsurg - u actually get ur hands dirty! :)
- how awesome is it to see the structures & musculature in the neck! - juz like in netters!
- visualising the jugular and the carotid was awesome! (the last time was during a carotid endarterectomy last yr!)

"My Pain, My Gain" - by Ian Thorpe

he paints....:)The acrylic on canvas measures two metres by four metre and shows Thorpe cutting through the water with tiny human figures all over him.
"When I was a kid I used to imagine within my body there were all these mini people and the people in my goggles were the control room," Thorpe said.
"They were kind of like lemmings and they used to power everything in my body. I was always whipping them to make them work harder.
"That was my form of visualisation."
