ORLHNS - day1...
- day 1 of the ORL bit of the Spec Surg run...
- scrubed in for the coolest surg this yr...
- (R) hemiglossectomy - with flap and graft....
- due to the HNS bit - ORL surg juz topped my list of "hmmm...maybe?"...
- there was more actual surgery than i expected! - not juz all tht nonsense microsurg - u actually get ur hands dirty! :)
- how awesome is it to see the structures & musculature in the neck! - juz like in netters!
- visualising the jugular and the carotid was awesome! (the last time was during a carotid endarterectomy last yr!)

"My Pain, My Gain" - by Ian Thorpe
he paints....:)The acrylic on canvas measures two metres by four metre and shows Thorpe cutting through the water with tiny human figures all over him.
"When I was a kid I used to imagine within my body there were all these mini people and the people in my goggles were the control room," Thorpe said.
"They were kind of like lemmings and they used to power everything in my body. I was always whipping them to make them work harder.
"That was my form of visualisation."

1st - i really, really hope the ankle scene is fake! looks like an anatomical impossiblity! there are way too many ligaments there!

omg!!!! travis and DJ AM are badly burnt/injured in tht plane crash!!!!
GOD....apparently travis is doing a tad better - his injuries are waist-down....
AM is burnt pretty bad in the face...gosh! airway compromise!!!
oh man...i really hope they pull through!!!! it'll be a waste/shame to see great talent burnt away..
im rooting for u travis!!!!!

bad, bad truth...=(
why should i be sad? he is after all a dude...a 23-year old to be exact...very, very normal..
maybe NOW i can stop my obsession?!? - except tht in-the-name of all tht is crazy, im actually jealous of tht woman! -.....

bad, bad dream...
after ages-upon-ages of not dreaming when i sleep at nite - or at least having NO memory of it whtsoevr! - i finally dreamt last nite! :)
u'd think i'd be stoked - but NOOOO....of all things, it had to be a nightmare! ok...i dunno if it technically constitutes as being a nightmare - maybe juz a bad dream - it was disturbing nonetheless...
to the masses, i knw it'll seem trivial and ridiculous...bt to me - a semi-obsessed fan - it was a harsh thing to see....i tried rationalising it, cos im quite certain he's not seeing anyone - unless those studpd rumours abt stephanie rice are true :( - bt it was juz plain weird...so when i woke up not too long ago, i checked the news...thank God it wasnt true....it was only a BAD, BAD dream....:)
yes, i knw im borderline loony-ville! :)

Ramadhan 1429
to my parents, family and friends back home in malaysia...today you start ur Ramadhan...
and to you, i wish you a blessed Ramadhan...
though im not sure when raof begins his Ramadhan..poor boy, not only will his bday be in Ramadhan, he's having to go thru it during summer! thank GOD it's the tail-end though...:)
for me, here in auckland, Ramadhan begins tmrw, 2nd september...
i'm looking forward to a blessed and calming and spiritual Ramadhan tht'll enrich me in everyway possible...and may it also provide me with the strength i need to study and get thru the grind to prepare for the bloody finals!
NB: i really hope i can also cope with NOT swearing! ;)....ohwell, easier said than done...=p
